Centos and zoneminder install

Ok, I have to admit I am new to everything Linux but did a clean install of Centos 7 and then added Gnome as a graphical interface. So far so good.
I then began the task of following the instructions to get zoneminder running.
I carefully followed the instructions up to and including the instructions in the readme file.
When I enable and start each such as httpd I get no error
When I enable and start zoneminder I get no error
What I do not get is the menu shown in the instructions when all is as it should be. In fact it is just at the prompt.
I have tried booting in both graphical and text mode but still no difference.
Any suggestions as to what I should be looking for? I am sure it is something simple that I just don't understand.
TIA
Steve
