Frame rate keeps dropping from 15 fps to 1 fps
Frame rate keeps dropping from 15 fps to 1 fps
Does anyone have any suggestions for why my ip camera keeps dropping progressively from 15 fps to 1 fps over the course of a couple of hours. Then it never recovers back from 1 fps.
Re: Frame rate keeps dropping from 15 fps to 1 fps
Camera make and model? Linux distro and release? Assuming you are using Zoneminder 1.30.x?

Does you network seem bogged down?
Is there QOS on your Router/Switch?
What's the /dev/shm %
Basically looking for a bottle neck somewhere.

Re: Frame rate keeps dropping from 15 fps to 1 fps
Running some Foscams I've seen the frame rate drop when the IR kicks in. The rate goes back up in daylight.
Use ffmpeg and force tcp as udp can be flaky. Set the frame rate at the camera to 10 FPS or less and shorten the key frame interval.
You may want to upgrade to Zoneminder 1.30.4.

Re: Frame rate keeps dropping from 15 fps to 1 fps
I upgraded to Zoneminder 1.30.4, but the problem still occurs.
The network is definitely not bogged down.
I'm not running QoS on the router.
/dev/shm is at 1%.
I kicked the frame rate at the camera down from 20 FPS to 10 FPS and now to 5 FPS, but the problem is not resolved.
As a workaround, if the zmc log file would consistently report the frame rate, I can watch it with "swatch" and restart zoneminder if it hits 1, but the zmc log file is not populating (see viewtopic.php?f=36&t=27310)
