lubuntu 32 bit 18.04 and ppa 1.32: cameras go offline

I have installed Ubuntu 18.04 as 32 bit guest on a Hyper-V hypervisor for testing purpose.

apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade

I have installed zoneminder from ppa of the 1.32 and tried also master.

I had to apply this fix

to have the cameras working


In both cases everything seems to work nicely.

I can watch cameras from the webinterface and also control one of them with Netcat onvif

, but there is an issue....

At some point both cameras go offline, for no reason. There is no ERR in the log.

Entering in camera panel from Zoneminder and re-saving the same configuration bring the camera back online.

If I restart the system, the cameras still offline, until i manually bring them online with the above method.

Can anyone give me some hint?

When you say "offline", do you mean that their "Name" and/or "Source" links in ZM's web UI's Console view show up as red? Or that the cameras produce no image when you're in their respective Monitor view? Can you view the cameras' feeds via other means while they're offline (e.g. by connecting directly to them via an internal web UI or a smartphone app or whatever)?

If the links are red, then that means that ZM can't communicate with them at all, so there should be many errors in the logs. If there aren't any errors, and especially if they don't show up as red but simply produce no stream, then it could be something else, possibly with your FCGI backend.

Oh, and another thing: do they produce any motion events at all when they're offline?

And yet one more thing: do your cameras go offline at fixed or random time intervals? I'm talking about rough estimates here, e.g. "after 1 hour of operation".

The first, their name and source link become red.

Cameras tested with other softwares/tools works perfectly, but in zoneminder, from the view page nothing appears and there is no blue or red rectangle.
Cameras produce no image when I'm in their respective Monitor view.

If I enter in configuration and I save the same configuration the cameras start to work again.

Cameras don't produce any event while "offline in zoneminder".

Cameras go offline at fixed interval ... something like 3 5 min... i should measure.

There are no error log in zoneminder, but actually there are some INF log.

I'll check later when I re enter at home the after how much the cameras stop working and the inf logs available.

I did a test, same hardware , same hypervisor (hyper-v) but with 18.04 64 bit everything works without any issue. Probably related to lbuntu 32 bit .
