New camera

Hi everybody,
thx for this great software and forum!

I would like to start using ZM by buying well compatible equipment. I do have a POE switch and would like to also buy either
hikvision DS-2CD2045FWD-I
or
hikvision DS-2CD2185FWD-I

Does anyone have recent experiences with those cameras?

Just follow the standard Hikvision ZM instructions.

So I got the DS-2CD2045FWD-I in the mail.

I configured a AWS server with ubuntu 18.04 and zm. That works.

The cam's ip address is 192.168.1.64, and I can access it when I just use the browser.

In the zm configurator I put the source path rtsp://name:password@192.168.1.64:554/Streaming/Channels/1.
The other settings are:
Source Type Ffmpeg
Method TCP
Control Type Hikvision
Control Device DS-2CD2045FWD-I
Control Address admin:ImmSimHh20@192.168.1.64

Unfortunately I can not access the cam via zm. What am I going wrong?

I noticed something similar once:

Then on a 2nd camera (different model) I didn't have any such issue...* Might be a firmware bug.

Just fiddle with the stream a bit. You should be able to view it in ZM.


*I also didn't have this issue with the wiki camera the first time. Only the 2nd time when it was returned.

Unfortunately with no luck.

Actual cam:
DS-2CD2185FWD-I
Firmware V5.6.3 build 190923

I also enabled the ONVIF on the cam site, and the cam is perfectly visible @ http://192.168.1.64

Also: On zoneminder it says: Source: 192.168.1.64. How come I do not have to specify which IP address I currently have?

Are there any other ideas?

There's probably something fundamental wrong, but it's hard know where to start. Either it couldn't possibly work (which I suspect) or it just needs a little nudge.

Perhaps you could give some description of your set-up.

Hikvision are a pretty popular brand, so we know they largely work.

my setup is that I have the cam connected to a lan port. I want to access it via zoneminder 1.34. I have zoneminder up and running on an AWS server under ubuntu 18.04.
I can access the cam with the local IP 192.168.1.64, it is giving a good image.
The cam is not connecting to zm onvif.
When using ONVIF device manager 2.2.250 it is detected, but can not connect, since "The action requested authorization and the sender is not authorized". Via the ip address I can log in with the same credentials. Power down / up does not help.
Using ONVIF from zm does not detect any cam.
Do you need any further info?

What arrangements have you made to facilitate network connectivity from the server to the camera? It sounds like one is in the cloud and the other is part of a LAN.

This is what I do not understand! I have not seen any indication that I should do something, and therefore I did not do anything. Which is why I don't understand how this should work.

I just got a reply from the vendor:
1.RTSP URL for Getting Stream.
rtsp://172.6.15.111:554/Streaming/Channes/ID/?transportmode=unicast
ID means main stream or sub stream and channel number. If the ID is 102, we will get sub stream of #1 channel. If the ID is 101, we will get main stream.
Transport mode has two option, they are unicast and multicast . RTSP URL supports to add username and password:
rtsp://admin:12345@IP/Streaming/Channels/ID/?transportmode=multicast.
The type of authorization supports BASIC and DIGEST.
Current latest version, IPC: V5.1.0; 1# generation megapixel speed dome(DS DF1
XXX):V4.1.6, 1# generation standard resolution speed dome(DS DF1 XXX):V3.1.6; 2# generation speed dome(DS DFXXXX): V5.1.0 are all support.

With this the ONVIF on my computer at least connects to the cam. But zm still refuses to connect...

Ok. A normal ZM install has the cameras and the ZM server on the same network at the same physical location. Whilst it is feasible to move these apart by some distance and then communicate over the Internet, it's not usual.

You could look at opening ports or creating a VPN. That's way beyond the kind of support that is provided in this forum.

In terms of the URL to get video from a Hikvision camera, the end part will resemble this - /Streaming/Channels/101 (main stream).

I can confirm the Hikvision DS-2CD2185FWD-I running firmware V5.6.3 build 190923 works with ZM with the following settings:

Source type: Ffmpeg
Source path: rtsp://<user:pw>@<IP>/Streaming/Channels/101
Method: TCP
Save JPEGs: disabled
Video writer: H264 video passthrough

Camera settings via Hikvision management page (Configuration > Video/Audio > Video)
Video encoding: H.264
H.264+: OFF

Mind telling me what you put as IP (not the actual values:=)): Do I really just put the local IP with port 554 there? Seems more than odd to me...
