Troubleshooting a fresh install | Debian 10 Buster / USB [Monitoring]

Post by DallasVale1972 »

ZoneMinder Project,

Mucho gracias for such an amazing open source project Amigos! 8)

I came here hoping to troubleshoot a small problem which resulted in upgrading to 1.35.x with a fresh install of Debian 10 Buster. I am using USB cameras and configured properly in Debian 9 / 1.32.x with load problems.

Nothing special; just looking to monitor for the moment. Using the correct local source path /dev/video[X] and NTSC / *MJPEG / 32-bit colour and resolution set at 640x320 per camera.

The settings look promising. What is confusing me is the cameras are no longer toggling on per say. Just stuck solid red (same thing in Debian 9) prior to a re-install. I tested the cameras with a linux software to verify infrastructure, cabling, etc and the path(s); all check out.

I believe I am missing something crucial and could use some help finalizing these settings so that I can enjoy your amazing software that I wish I never had to even setup to begin with. (I am sure others know what I am talking about). :)

Thanks again! Happy Thanksgiving!

Solved! I mistakenly was typing the incorrect dimensions. With the updated version, the drop down box was sufficient to solve this. However, I could use some tweaking of the settings to keep the monitor cameras running without load (camera offline) toggling issues.

I will do a full restart and check back if anyone has any advise. Very small server and very small number of cameras.

Thank you again!
