Use Amcrest motion detection, like Axis?

Post by smokinjoe »

Hi All,

Is there an easy way to test using the Amcrest moion triggers? I see from this article I have to enable an option but do not see how to get the trigger from the camera to have ZM start recording.

https://wiki.zoneminder.com/How_to_use_ ... on_with_ZM

Seems like Axis has a way to do it:

Thanks,
Joe

I have amcrest cameras and don’t think they have this ability. I would also be interested in this. I see the Amcrest View Pro app has something called Alarm Trigger, but when I try to open it I get an error. If this feature exists I think it would be configurable there.

The Axis cameras can do it.The Amcrest can detect motion and trigger an alarm. If the vendor does not document how to detect the triggered alarm you have to get crafty. Zoneminder and Foscam are kinda related and both not a good as Axis.

I am sure someone here should know more about these cameras and how to get detection on the camera, I think it would reduce load on zoneminder.

I’m playing around to see if I can get a solution for this working.

My thought is, configure cameras to ftp to zm server when motion is detected, then have nodered watch the ftp directory and pass the data to zmtrigger.

Well I got it working. Motion detection is happening on my amcrest cameras. When they detect motion they're configured to FTP a snapshot to my zm server. I have nodered running alongside ZM, it's watching the FTP directory. When it picks up new files it triggers an alarm using ZMTrigger. I'd be happy to share this nodered flow, I'll clean it up a bit first. :D

when I tested in the past with the Amcrest 841b it would put to a FTP but the test me button would always fail. I will do some testing to get my FTP working again.
