For years I have used the Remote source type with my Foscam cameras but I was reading up that using FFMPEG and H264 passthrough could reduce resource utilization. (correct?)
When I switched to ffmpeg I am unable to get the camera to connect unless I add the allowed_media_types=video setting to the Options then it will connect and operate normally.
Once I fixed that issue I tried to change my Storage setting from JPEG images and enable Videowriter H264 passthrough but when I do that I ended up with the camera not connecting again and my CPU utilization on that ZMC process shoots through the roof.
Do I just need to revert to the old Remote method or am I missing something when configuring the passthrough? I seem to be able to get this to work fine with Hikvision cameras, just not sure what is different with the Foscam.

Re: H264 passthrough issues with Foscam
I don't know, but maybe compare what vlc codec and media says? I've never used anything for my ip cams other than ffmpeg.
