I have installed zoneminder 1.32 on my Raspberry Pi 3B. Install went fine with no problems found.

I configured the service for my Wansview camera using the following url path: rtsp://admin:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/live/ch0
(I used actual password of course)

I get no video at all and the console shows the camera in red indicating a problem.
I have checked the log and can't figure out what its telling me. I don't know what log entries I need to be concernd with or which will give me the answer.

Which keep repeating.

I was able to view the camera using the same url from VLC.

Any help really appreciated.

What do you have set as the Source Type on the General tab of the camera config?

Using FFMpeg as the Source Type works with my cameras' rtsp streams, using TCP as the a Method on the Source tab.

I have it set up just as yours is, ffmpeg and tcp.

I had it working for several years using this same configuration until my system became corrupted and I had to do a rebuild. I remember having a lot of issues the first time trying to find the right camera settings, but most resolved around the rtsp string.

Strange that it will not connect.

I can use the same URI in VLC and I can stream from my camera. So I am pretty much at a loss as to what is going on. I have used the same setup in the past and it worked fine, but when I had a sdcard failure I had to re-install everything.

Equipment.

Raspberry Pi 3B
Latest RPI (Buster) 32 bit Lite (no gui)
Wansview Camera (1080 P) Older I purchased a few years back.
32GB sdcard
1gb ram
External Hardrive (500gb) for video storage.

Install went fine, zoneminder cannot get data from the camera.

What does syslog show? Is one of the ZM processes crashing?

Is there a port closure issue on the Pi? (firewall?)

Try a short tcpdump capture and perhaps you can see what's going wrong, may need to export the resulting pcap and look at it with wireshark etc on separate box.
