Ubuntu Server 20.04 - clean install - all RAM used up?

I have a fresh install that I did in order to try and address the problem of a system running out of RAM.
This is a Dell 720, Dual Xeon, 24 core machine with 64GB of RAM.
The OS is Ubuntu Server 20.04

I have 10 channels of video, 7 of which are 4k resolution.

If I leave the analysis and decoding options on then the memory utilization for a given worker exceeds 26GB and soon all of the system memory is used until the OS kills the thread.

What should I do? I read somewhere that Zoneminder shouldn't ever try to use over 1/2 of the available system RAM but it is doing this. It is repeatable.

Thanks,
Jon

Make sure you don’t have it saving JPEGs. Other than that it might be worth keeping keyframe interval short.

OK, I'll try changing settings... still doesn't seem right that this happens. Never had this problem before and I've been using ZM for over 10 years.

Not sure any of that is relevant.
