SOLVED - ZM 1.36.17 - Montage View - "EDIT LAYOUT" functionality NOT WORKING
SOLVED - ZM 1.36.17 - Montage View - "EDIT LAYOUT" functionality NOT WORKING
Hi,
a little issue. I'm on ZM 1.36.17.
In Montage View I try to EDIT LAYOUT pushing the button. SAVE and CANCEL buttons appear.
So, it's not possible to move the image of any camera (clicking on the image and moving the cursor). It appears a little road sign like below:
please tell me, on your 1.36.17 version is the feature working? is there anything wrong at my side or anything broken in the new version?
If I remember well the ZM version on 1.36.15 I was able in Montage View to edit the layout dragging the camera image.
please tell me
thanks

There is a fix in the proposed ppa.

Re: Montage View - EDIT LAYOUT NOT WORKING
Hi Isaac,
to check if the issue fixed I tried to install what you proposed in the repo https://launchpad.net/~iconnor/+archive ... r-proposed.
I'm on ubuntu 20.04, arm processor (Odroid XU4).
systemctl start zoneminder failed with the following message
Job for zoneminder.service failed because the control process exited with error code.
See "systemctl status zoneminder.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
It's not a big problem, I will wait for the fix in the new version 1.36.18
The important is I understood the issue "EDIT LAYOUT NOT WORKING" is at sw side to be fixed.
thanks
A question: can I force to install back ZM 1.36.15? how ? thanks

Re: ZM 1.36.17 - Montage View - EDIT LAYOUT NOT WORKING
if you still have the .15 .deb in /var/cache/apt/archives, the simply sudo dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/zoneminder-blabhalbha1.36.15.deb
Otherwise you'll have to get it from somewhere else. the PPA sadly doesn't keep old versions.

Re: ZM 1.36.17 - Montage View - EDIT LAYOUT NOT WORKING
Thanks a lot, guys! Downgraded to 1.36.15.
I remembered well . EDIT LAYOUT functionality works on 1.36.15.
Thanks a lot!
2 questions: I downgraded the ZM sw version from 1.36.17 to 1.36.15
1. to downgrade I used the following procedure:
- sudo apt-get remove zoneminder (to remove 1.36.17, maintaning the ZM DB)
- download zoneminder_1.36.15-focal1_armhf.deb from the repo proposed by Magic919 (really magic!)
- sudo sudo gdebi zoneminder_1.36.15-focal1_armhf.deb
It worked!
is the procedure correct? a theoretical question: I imagine no change on DB between the 2 sw versions (.15 and .17). If there were differeces, would the procedure work? I saw that when a sw upgrade is done, a DB updrade is done too, so I imagined something similar on DB for downgrade but there is nothing in my procedure..
2. is it a method to find in launchpad repo the right .deb version? that is: if I need too the 1.36.15 version for xenial, how could I find it?
thanks a lot Isaac and Magic919

Re: ZM 1.36.17 - Montage View - EDIT LAYOUT NOT WORKING
I just use the dpkg -I name_of_file.deb method. Never removed the older version before, even for downgrades.
New tables in DB won't usually have an effect. I doubt there are drastic changes. Main thing is that zmupdate changes the 'version' in the DB. This stops ZM complaining.
I just physically look though the launchpad as I never found a working method to search.

Re: ZM 1.36.17 - Montage View - "EDIT LAYOUT" functionality NOT WORKING
Thanks a lot, Magic!.
For the procedure and following comments.
Magic, Isaac, excuse for such stupid questions, I'm not an expert.
thanks
EDIT: Magic, Isaac, thanks a lot for everything.
I found all the versions in https://launchpad.net/~iconnor/+archive ... es_filter=
Magic, I used your method to test 1.36.16 and discovered that it is broken too. So, Edit Layout functionality lost after 1.36.15.
So, I downgraded to 1.36.15, created the new layout schema with 1.36.15, then upgraded to 1.36.17 inheriting the layout creted in 1.36.15.
Isaac, I appreciate your and your team job. I imagine that for a not commercial tool the NRT (Non-Regression Testing) effort is really high. Going to become a financial contributor..

Re: ZM 1.36.17 - Montage View - "EDIT LAYOUT" functionality NOT WORKING
Just confirming that for me 1.36.16 and .17 have what appears to be javascript issues that break it pretty seriously, and that downgrading back to 1.36.15 is the temporary fix.
For my Raspberry Pi 4 installation I needed to grab the Focal arm64 build from launchpad but otherwise the dpkg -i procedure above is all I needed. Actually tried .16 first, saw that it too has the same issues so then went back to .15, as per iconnor's original instructions.
I'd also just like to say that Zoneminder is one beautiful piece of software; a shining light in a sea of mediocrity. Kudos to iconnor and all who keep this going.
I too will continue my financial support.
