Why is zm capturing in monitor mode?

Hi,
I setup zoneminder to watch a cat-door and raise an alarm if a foreign cat enters my home. This works great and I thank everybody who works for this great piece of software.

As far as I understand the system, alarms should only be raised if the monitor is in modect mode. To disable my alarms, I switched the monitors to "monitor"-mode and to my surprise, alarms are raised even in this mode.

The UI-Console shows "Capturing" even in monitor-mode and alarms are raised, if an event occurs. My expectation is, in monitor mode no capturing should occur and no events should be triggered.

Am I thinking wrong or I am doing wrong?

I don't remember for sure what 1.34 looks like. Sounds like a bug.
You might consider upgrading to 1.35, which has finer control over recording and detection.
