solved: no camera images in zm GUI

I've just installed zoneminder 1.34.23-1 on a raspberry pi using the instructions here:

everything went fine, the web gui is working, I set up 3 cameras but I don't have any camera thumbnail images. all cameras are green set to modect and they all say capturing - everything looks correct but there are no images, and if i click on a camera there's no live image in the next page. there's also a couple of events it captured but no image there either. I don't know if this is a browser issue (I'm using chrome and edge on a win 10 pc), or an apache issue or a zoneminder issue. thanks for any advice.

sounds like video library components are missing and the streams and images can't be generated.

solved: I was missing one command when setting up zm.
# a2enmod cgi
