Event Server on Separate Machine

Is is possible to run the event server on a separate machine from Zoneminder? I have Zoneminder running on a really old laptop, but I'm not sure the laptop will be able to handle the event server as well. I want to run ES with person detection. Running ZM alone with 3 cameras takes up over half of the cpu and memory of the laptop.
I may be worrying about nothing. I just want to make sure there's never a missed detection because the system has run out of resources. I thought running the event server on a separate machine might be a good way to avoid that potential problem.
