Overwrite recordings

Post by aferrara »

Good evening, I have just approached the world of Zoneminder and I would like to know how to configure the system so that recordings are deleted or overwritten when they reach a certain size in GBytes.
Thank you.

The default purge when full filter will delete the oldest events when the disk is nearing full.
You can setup your own filter to delete at a certain age or fullness.
I run 2, purge at 60 days and purge at 95%.

A search on "purge filters" should yield useful results.

Hi, first of all thanks for the reply.
I found the filter you indicated. However, I didn't understand whether it is already active or whether it needs to be activated.

If there is a * after the name it is set to run in the background.

To set up automatic deletion or overwriting of recordings based on size, you can use the "purge when full" option in the storage settings. Just go to the storage tab and configure the storage you're using. There, you can set the max size and choose to either delete or overwrite old recordings when it reaches that limit.
