newbie question on SourceSecondPath

Post by alanm »

Hi I'm a newbie and have v1.36.33 running in a Proxmox container with 8cores/16G.

I'm created monitors for 4 Anpviz IP cameras (3 5MP, 1 4MP) and havent had issues
but when I try modect mode, the load goes way and I'll started getting the "Can't keep up ..." messages

I beleive thie issue is that I'm trying to analyze too much data at that
abd that the general advice seems to be to create a substream and only analythe the substream.

My Camera ui shows a substream options but how do I know what the url is of teh substream.

My working main stream url is. rtsp://<user>:<pass>@<ip-addr>:554/live/mpeg4
which I got from https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Hardware_Compatibility_List

SourceSecondPath is for a separate audio stream. Someday it might be for the substream, but thus far has not been implemented.

Google for linked monitors.

1.36.33 is old and has security vulnerabilities. I would encourage you to upgrade.

1.37 series has more options for using less cpu.

You should also consider a reduced frame rate. Security video is frequently 10FPS and lower. TV shows are 24FPS.
An 8MP camera @ 8FPS doing modect takes ~50% of one of my Xeon threads. That may help you.
Another thing that will help later, increase your key frame rate. My key frames are once a second.

So is this how it's supposed to work?

The lowres mon is in modect, the hires mon in monitor mode.
When movement is detected in lowres, the linked monitor starts to record?

I have:
"left" monitor is streaming 3072x2048 and
"left_lowres" monitor is streaming at 704x576 D1 PAL

left (hi res) monitor has as a linked (low res) monitor

You want nodect mode for the high rest, not monitor.
