Foscam V8EP...trying to connect..Working now!!!

I have Zoneminder running localhost/zm ....trying to install Foscam....{got it working in VLC....rtsp://user:password@192.168.*.*:88/videoMain } tried changing resolutions....nothing
That isn't working in Zoneminder....are there other settings ?...I watched one video and tried.... ls -l /dev/video* but said could not access..no file, directory...Any thoughts?....Thanks...

Don't get your instructions confused. :) The "/dev/videoX" tip applies to LOCALLY attached cameras, that is a USB webcam style, or a capture device (pci card, USB) supported by Video4Linux. They are handled by the kernel as /dev/videoX devices which disappear when you disconnect the camera. Ignore that!

Your FOSCAM is an IP camera, so will always be treated as a networked device (rtsp:// for the video stream apparently, https:// for control pages and admin if you're lucky).

The fact you can get it working in VLC is a good sign.

The resolution the camera is sending must match the resolution in Zoneminder.

"Isn't working in Zoneminder" covers a lot sins. What exactly are your setup config pages in ZM (screenshot them here) and what errors do you get, if any.

Thank you for your quick response...I rebooted, started lowering resolutions and got it working.....now I can try to learn how to use the program....Thanks again....
