New user: analysis must be enabled for linked monitors to work ...?

Post by timattrn »

I have two cameras outside front and outside back, and I have set up a monitor on a high res and low res stream.

I am using zm v1.36.35

Now I would like to use motion triggers based on the low res streams to trigger high res recording to reduce load on the recording computer.

It seems that to get the high res streams recorded by a link to the lo res streams when a motion event is detect on the low res stream, I should use function Nodect but it seems I must have Analysis enabled, because the help text says "When not enabled no motion detection or linked monitor checking will be performed and no events will be created." This is already very confusing, because I don't want analysis running on the highres stream: want it to respond to the linked monitor. It is confusing because I want analysis only on the low res stream, but it seems I must enable it on both streams, which seems to defeat my purpose.

Does this means I need to enable Analysis on the Highres stream, but then make a zone that does not do analysis and put this monitor in such a zone.
So I need four zones, (one for each stream?)

I have swapped to using the master branch ppa (1.37) and the interface makes a lot more sense. But something I did has triggered my monitors to no longer connect, but that's a different problem

Check your monitor username and password. They don't always translate correctly.
