want to try the zoneminder functionality with my Rehat ES version3 and a QuickCam express camera that is connected through USB.
the usb-camera is not detected, driver - basic functionality - not avialable,
tried the whole day to download and install a linux driver => no success at all.
Advice or methodology on how to start up the basic camera functionality will be appreciated.
get a little bit annoyed at installation about the lack linux drivers.
The zoneminder article in the Linux Format Magazine does not mention any issue's about this topic(s).
Philip what am i overlooking, or even doing wrong ?
looking forward to your advice.

Hi!
I use debian, and logitech quickcam express webcam. My camera works fine. I installed qce-source package, which is basically in debian. You may download it, from qce project home, hosted at
http://qce-ga.sourceforge.net
After you will compile the source, your camera will work.
P.S.: Sorry, for my bad english :/

Thank You very much for the quick reply,
unfortunatly i have a vendor id = 046d and product id = 920
usbview = unknown device!!!
When I consulted the webpage you provided me following warning is shown:
Important! New Quickcams do not work the
qce-ga nor with the qc-usb driver! So beware this
if you are purchasing a new camera. A camera almost
definitely works if it has USB VendorId 046d and
ProductId one of 840, 850, or 870. New Quickcams
have ProductId of 910 or 920 and these don't work!
(Do not want to give up, although quiting now seems to be the easiest for me now,
based on the sunny whether conditions of course.
Hope that the sun will shine soon also for my webcam - linux context)
looking forward to assistance.
Sincerely
