Solar powered cameras

Has anyone seen the writeups on extremecctv soloar powered cameras. Here is the link
http://www.extremecctv.com/news/PDF/PR- ... Winner.pdf
After reading this I was thinking about creating a cheaper version with a battery pack and solar cells from an electronics store. The camera could run on solar power during the day and batteries at night and trickle charge the batteries during the day. Cost would be about $20 US. Has anyone attempted this?
My initial setup for testing will be for a wireless cam such as the dlink in an outdoor housing using this solar/battery setup talking line of site back to the access point.
Any thoughts or interest when I have it working?
Thanks
John
