Hello all.....just looking for some basic information on Zone Minder.....can it be setup to be "motion-detect" software? Or is this something that is initiated by the camera? thanks

Yes, it can motion detect. The best place for basic info is the README file which is bundled with the software, and also available from the Documentation section.
