Slackware - sort of the "hardcore" of linux distributions, lots of manual configuration, lots of text interfaces.
Suse - the cadillac of Linux's, lots of goodies, easy to use, pretty graphics and setup interface layouts.
RedHat - the most hated among religious linux users, great install interface, good job at getting the job done, lots of features, many things pre-installed so you dont have to deal with it, easy to use, commercial hardware device driver support is geared towards redhat(commercial software too).
Debian - blah I never tried it.
that;s just my opinion.
