Hi all,

I have some problems with mozilla and firefox native jpeg streaming.
i can see 1 camera very well, but when i open montage in a 8 cameras enviroinment for example, it just shows 2 cameras, and the others hangup,
showing a corrupt image icon.

then i need to RESTART firefox to make everything works well.

any clue here :?: :!: :idea: ? using cambozola all goes ok

thanks

I have had a similar issue with firefox and montage view. I am only able to view the first two cameras, the rest show the broken image icon. I think there is a setting in firefox that limits the numbers of persiistent connections that are allowed to a single server. (try 'about:config' in the address bar) I have been unsuccessful in locating the appropriate setting(s). If you or anyone else can shed some light on this, I would love to hear about it.

follow the steps to make firefox work ok with more than 2 cameras in montage using native streaming !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 -> in firefox, open the about:config url
2 -> type "conn" in the filter text area
3 -> press enter
4 -> modify network.http.max-connections to 200
5 -> modify network.http.max-connections-per-server to 200
6 -> modify network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server to 200
7 -> CLOSE THE BROWSER AND THATS IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for help me, specialy securiteaze, that give me the tip of about:config

Great, watch a stream in mpeg is easy now, just using mplayer plugin
configured to buffer 0%

Now i can finally live happy

way to go! It indeed did seem to work here, and I do think it has something to do with the firefox settings, but my current problem has not disappeared yet..

I open montage view, 4 cameras, all goes well. If I then close montage view, and try to re-open it (even after pressing refresh in the console window), I get the "corrupt image icon". Closing and restarting firefox solves that..

Anyway, I'll keep on searching and trying but any thoughts appreciated ;)

Cheers..

i think you will have to erase your $HOME/.mozilla directory (just delete it)

Try the last firefox version. It is really a breed of fresh air and works perfectly for me with 16 cameras.

Sorry, i saw the same problem....

i think there is something wrong in the way that zm parse the jpeg streaming, if it send every time the entire header, because when click in firefox to "view this image" it show an error saying : "the image could not be viewed because it contain some errors or is corrupted"

so i think something about zoneminder. If zoneminder show the entire header every time this shouldnt happen...

i will keep searching about this.

Philip, could you say what do you think about ?

thanks all

Hi all,

Not a real solution. But a workaround.

Right click in the frame. Select "This Frame --> Reload Frame"

Until someone finds a real fix I put up with this workaround because of the much lower load on the server using native streaming compared to cambozola.

Best regards,
Ross

nice rdmelin, seems to work indeed.
a global reload doesn't work, but individual reloading by frame does work. strange.

Hi Victor,

I'd like to have a look at this, can you tell me how you got mplayer set up to work with FireFox and what other settings might be required?

Could you, or someone, explain exactly how you get the corrupted image problem as well. I'm slightly confused what did work and what didn't.

Hi phil, Thanks for your quick reply...

im very happy you have come back, have you enjoyed your vacations ?

so lets go, about put mplayer to work, i just installed the mplayer-plugin software, which is a plugin to integrate mplayer and Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox browsers.

you need to have mplayer properly installed, then, download the mplayer-plugin packages and follow the install procedure, then copy the plugin to the browser directory plugin. thats all.

After this, mplayer-plugin have some configurations that might be made in it config file, like "how many kbytes will it buffer before display the video" and some other things.

then you are able to watch mpeg streaming in firefox.

abow what is working and what is not in firefox, let me explain the ACTUAL PROBLEM :

As you know, firefox (i mean all MOZILLA compatible here) have a native streaming capability that is very lightweight , much faster than using cambozola (and the JAVA technology). The firefox streaming capability when used with zoneminder works wonderful.

But when you open MONTAGE and watch all the cameras, then close it after a few minutes, the "view monitor" function doesnt shows anything but a "corrupted image icon" and when you right click image and select "View Image" option in firefox it says "the image could not be seen because it contains errors or is corrupted". A solution (mean WORKAROUND) is to CLOSE the firefox and open it again.

May this be a kind of jpeg header parsing problem ????? i really dont know yet
===============================================

the OLD PROBLEM is that when you open firefox to see the montage view, it only displayed TWO (2) cameras, then hangup. I have discovered how to fix this (as i said in a recent post), so dont worry about this one now, its fixed.

Thanks you Phil
