I thought I'd throw this out there. I know OS X is linux based and I was wondering if anyone has tried to install ZM on a mac?

I think you'll find that the Mac OS X core is BSD-based rather than linux-based.

Still it seems to have the same development tools and libs, it is the Kernel that might give me the problem?

hi,

I would really like to see ZoneMinder running on MacOS X because the hardware is so nice .. and especially the mac mini would be a great machine for video recording... so after some work I succeeded in compiling version 1.22.2 and running the software. There are still some problems but the site is working (also because MacOS includes apache and php on every installation).
It would be possible to merge the code changes to produce a release which is also compatible with mac!!!? I'd like to contact the programmers in order to do so...!!

thank you,
Fabio

OS X and OS 9 on G5 iMac

I have a 10.4.x G5 iMac which came with install CD containing an OS 9 package on Disc 2.
That installed and made an entry in system preferences to boot Classic when I login to OS X or wait until requested by the Classic application.

I also said add the icon to task bar.

I am not sure where you ended up placing the files but my Macintosh HD
has a SYSTEM FOLDER and a separate Applications (Mac OS 9) folder.
In that System Folder is Classic, Classic Support Apple Menu, etc

SYSTEM is the OS X files

Hope this helped.

I will be first attempting to build and run ZoneMinder on Intel Solo Mini with Tiger Xcode. I need to clear 3 GB space on the tiny 40 GB drive.
Later I may try on G5 and ubuntu systems.
