Image in 'Zones' but not 'Watch'

Hello all...
I seem to have a slightly different problem to all the other 'no images' type issues... (I know, I've read just about every post on the subject looking for an answer)
As the subject says, I just get the missing image icon when 'watching' a camera.
I do get an image when maintaining zones however.
There are no errors in any of the zm* logs.
I've unleashed chmod 777's all over the directories, just in case.
I've also messed with just about every setting there is in ZM, tried the 'reload' option in Firefox, cleared the cache, tried different scales in the watch window, sacrificed mountains of chocolate, drank more tea, attempted to summon the Force, threatened voodoo and sulked. None of which has had any affect whatsoever. (Although the chocolate made me feel slightly sick)
If I copy the zms url and view it in another browser instance, it spews ASCII all over the shop, so that proves it's doing *something* at least.
The only clue, is the apache log returning a HTTP status of '206' for the zms url. Which sounds like dodgy headers to me.
Anybody have a working <directory> config they wish to share?
I'm running this on FC2, bttv 4 port capture card, browsing with Firefox and Konqueror on a seperate SuSE mahine.
