stream length

Hi,

I've managed to set up zoneminder 1.19.5 on fedora core 2 and all appears ok. To test my setup, I left a monitor on modect this morning and it has captured about 50 events but some are just a couple of seconds long and they follow each other. I was expecting this to beone stream of continuous activity but it has split them up. Is there a setting for a minimum record length e.g. if it picks up movement on a camera, record for at least 2 minutes or until movement stops? I've searched the forum and can't find any solution butI was sure I'd seen something like this when I was installing?

Many thanks for any help,

Lee.

The post event buffer in the 'Buffers' section of the monitor setup will do what you want. You will have to calculate roughly how many frames, at your effective capture rate, are necessary for your desired time interval. So if you are getting 10fps and want to ensure that any activity following within 10 seconds of the last event gets tagged on then you will have to set it to 100.

If you set it to a massive number, say for 2 minutes would be 1200, then even a very brief event of one or two frames will always have at least 2 minutes minutes worth of other frames appended to it. There's no reason why you can't do this but it might make some of your events rather bigger than they otherwise need be.
