Camera recommendations

Post by lennyk »

Anyone has recommendations on good priced outdoor day/night
cameras ?
Looking for distance of about 50 feet.
Seems like there is a huge disparity amongst cameras.

Thanks,

I bought a CC70 from RF Concepts which seems pretty good. Always watch out for the number of "TV lines" in the spec as this will have a big impact on the quality of the captured image. I would try and get one with 480, cost permitting.

It has an array of LED's which automatically come on in low light and the camera also switches to B&W. This saves buying a separate IR. illuminator but a small drawback seems to be that Zoneminder gets triggered by raindrops falling close to the lens. It may be possible to avoid this with a suitable zone setting (or putting the thing under your roof overhang!?). Please note that you can't put it behind a window due to the LEDs.

I ordered the PSU on the same page as the camera but when it came there was one already supplied in the camera box so I ended up with a spare.

Also bear in mind that the camera is fixed focus and the lens is not changeable, so order the correct focal length for the 'zoom' that you require.

I have some infrared cameras that I sell:
http://www.bluecherry.net/store/catalog ... Path=21_29

The YCC series have the option of a built-in heater for use in outside areas that might be cold (below 40 degrees F)

Contact me at curt@bluecherry.net if you have any questions, I give a 15% discount to zoneminder users.

Thanks

The coupon code is only available for capture cards. For everything else you can use 'FirstTime' (no quotes) for 10% off

Thanks
