I've got one of these cameras and can confirm it works fine with ZM, plus v1.20.2 will support the all PTZ function.

Give us a sneak peek on the features please, will ZM be capable of automatically pan/tilt/zoom the camera on certain presets and record/modect upon each move or how are you approaching this?

It's about 95% done now. Presets are supported as is directed motion by clicking on hotspots on the image (in supported cameras) but mostly it's aimed at allowing manual control of cameras in a simple extensible way. There is a scripting interface with defined parameters though I am relying on other people to write the actual scripts for protocols I don't know about. If a camera has motion detection on then this is disabled for the normal warmup period to allow the camera to einitialise at it's new location.

I'm going to try and do some experiments with automatic motion following but I'm not sure how accurate it will turn out to be.

Does this camera have the tracking capability thats available in zm?
Does it follow pelco standards in the "control" selection?
Are you satisfied with the low light capabilities of it?
The reason I ask is In the market for 2 ptz cams and want the tracking feature...if possible.

It's not Pelco as it's a network camera. But it's pretty controllable. There is a cheaper Panasonic PTZ cam also that I haven't tried yet which should work also.

Light-wise it's not too bad but as it's not an outdoor camera it's either in a lit room or in pitch darkness so I can't really comment. I get a decent image if the room is lit just by the light of my monitor, but also I'm close to the cam.

By the way, the tracking feature is very experimental. I'd hate anyone to spend money just for that without that having chance to evaluate it first. I think I should try and put an mpeg up on the site to demonstrate it.

I have my eye on a panasonic ptz outddor can model wv-cw864a
nice camera with "tracking and motion sensor" but I'm not sure zm will have the correct protocol, it's not totally pelco compatable but is rs435 controlled. I was told that panasonic protocol has been the same for all thier cams for 10 years now.
It's a GREAT cam at a good price (used) but I wonder if I should go with 100% pelco
and be done with it but get less features and performance for the same$.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Adding protocols is actually not that hard to do. I'm happy to add any to ZM. All you have to do is donate a camera and I'll do the rest!

Alternatively, the zmcontrol scripts are pretty simple and you may find you can do it yourself (assuming you have the docs). If so then contributing your script to ZM would also be appreciated.

I am just about to get one of these panasonic kx-hcm10 cameras, and was wondering if there were any gotchas in configuring the camera with ZM, i.e. location of the video.cgi or whatever format it is.. minimum requirements?

No gotchas that I can recall. I use /nphMotionJpeg?Resolution=320x240&Quality=Standard as the Path but you might wish to modify that to your requirements.

I have the same camera and the latest ZM but I still see no images. I did upgrade the firmware, hope that didn't mess things up?

The camera is added and I user your above path but no luck.

Any ideas? Other options need tweeking?

Any errors in the logs, you should see something that tells you why image fetching failed.

Here is my camera config:

Remote Host Name: itcam.sd.linspire.com
Remote Host Port: 80
Remote Host Path: /nphMotionJpeg?Resolution=320x240&Quality=Standard


If I type http://itcam.sd.linspire.com/nphMotionJ ... y=Standard in the browser on my ZM server I see streaming video of camera.

Can you also tell me your settings for the tilt/pan config?

silly question but it looks like your using a dyndns something or other to get to your cams. Are you typing this address intot he browsr on your zm machine (ie is dns working correctly)
You might want to try just using the ip of the cam instead of the fqdn

I would advise running the capture daemon at a higher debug level, say 4, as that will give a fuller indication of what is happening.

on the control front how do you set that up, II have the images ok i have turned on control and selected c10
It asking for control device and control address etc what do i enter in here
