I had in mind a change(not a feature), where we could define the storage point for each camera. I realized that one of the heavy loads in ZM is the disk recording of a huge amount of cameras with a large framerate.
In systems with no hardware RAID saving all to the same disk or to a software raid raises the system load.
If we could be able to direct a camera to a specific mount point (to diferent disks) would reduce this load.

I could use symlinks to trick ZM, but then i cannot use the filter to autoclean events, as it only looks to the root mount point of events.

You can set up a software RAID-0 with multiple mount points (on different disks or the same drive) and accomplish the increase in speed you're looking for. I have 4, 250 gig drives RAIDed together and it has no problem keeping up with 16 simultaneous cameras.
