ERR: zmc-4 [select timed out]

I keep getting this message very often, however the app is streaming in both stream mode and still mode, events are being recorded and analysed.
Also, is there a way to know if zmfilter.pl is executing. I was not able to find the zmfilter.log in the logs folder. pls guide. When I run zmfilter.pl from the command prompt, it fails compilation. Is there anyway to check if necessary modules for zmfilter is installed ?
