I've had another couple of ideas for ZoneMinder.
1. Be able to restrict users to only view archived events. Currently I can restrict by camera, but having the ability to view all the events simply confuses the people who are reviewing footage to try to find thieves.
2. It would be nice to be able to setup a schedule for the camera modes. In other words, I'd set up a schedule to tell a camera to record from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm on tuesday, wednesday, and friday and from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on monday and thursday. Otherwise, the camera would be in motion detection mode. There could be several changes throughout the day based on the individual circumstances. Exceptions (which would override the preset schedule) should be allowed to account for things like holidays and the like.

Re: More Ideas
I will add this to the 'features to be considered list' and have a think about whether it is easy to implement.Ruler wrote:1. Be able to restrict users to only view archived events. I have thought about adding scheduling to ZM but it's a low priority issue. Currently you can achieve most of the same effects by using crontab and ZM run states to control cameras in bulk.Ruler wrote:2. It would be nice to be able to setup a schedule for the camera modes. Could you point me to a resource that describes how to accomplish this? (I had thought of using cron to do this, but did not know you could change the camera mode from the command line.)zoneminder wrote:I have thought about adding scheduling to ZM but it's a low priority issue. Nevermind - I took my own advice and searched the forums. Going to try this in the near future.
