Hi,
Thank you for a great program!
I am trying to get ZoneMinder working with my DC10+ card for last week or so and I was only partially successfull I must say. one issue is on startup of capture daemon when it uses v4l and the new zoran driver. The error I see in log is from v4l saying that the window buffer has to be set first and then invalid parameter(s). If I do couple of stop/start cycles without changing any settings, It will start to work and I can get it to register events and display pictures and create video using ffmpeg.
I was not able to get the live streaming to work. I read in one of the other threads dated back at the beginning of 2004 that this is due to the mjpeg comp/decomp capability of the DC10+ card, but I don't know if that still applies. Is there any chance for me to get the streaming working?

ffmpeg downgraded to 0.4.8 as the 0.4.9 version has some missing symbol problem in libavcodec

If you can get ZM to capture images from your care then streaming should work. If it isn't you will have to give some further information about what is happening, or isn't, along with any helpful screenshots etc. Following the Troubleshooting section of the README will tell you where to look.

Hi Phil,
I figured out what the problem with streaming was. Basically, When the monitor browser window was displayed, zms was not running. So I checked all log files including apache and there I saw weird errors about remote side closing connection and broken pipe or something like that. I looked at zms source code, enabled level 9 debuging and rebuilt. Set enviroment parameter QUERY_STRING to whatever the browser was sending and executed zms from command line. And it worked and was continuously dumping output. Without setting the QUERY_STRING zms only prints some info and stops. So i figured, that if I include that in php document, it should do the same. And it did not! It dumped that ELF executable. Of course! That means that my apache does not know how to execute zms executable! It was just sending it as is and that's why it broke the pipe. Unfortunatelly I did not find out yet how to set my apache to recognize zms as executable. I know it recognizes perl/cgi so I renamed zms to zms.pl and pointed to it in options dialog and it started to work (almost). It streams and sends stills, but in streaming you have to play with the window and or stop/pause/play the stream to actually see the image. And even then it stops after few seconds. When you move the window, it is like viewport, you loose the image and when you move it back to the same position on the screen, it appears again. So I am almost there...
Btw. I am using Firefox.

Have you checked your cgi config in the httpd.conf file? It may just be a case of putting zms in the right place or uncommenting ir duplicating a cgi directive in the apache config. Don't forget to restart it if you make any changes.

Yep, that's what it was. I wanted to keep things tidy and instaled ZM into /zm/ and /zm/cgi-bin/ subdirectories under my server root. And of course ScriptAlias pointed to /cgi-bin/. When I put link in there to the real zms, it started to work...
