im using this ebay card here

its a 4 port 60 frames per second

i thought it was similar to bbtv type ebay cards the ones with 30fps but i cannot seem to get fedora core 3 to detect this card ?

i've tried a modprobe but still no luck ?
is there some way to get this type of card working ?
please help ?

Hi Jay,
From your error log looks like you need to install the MIME::Entity Perl module.
Also you might want to run a scanpci -v and post the infomation it gives relivant to the card.
The other errors would be related to the card not being detected or installed as a differant device and not video. Try looking through dmesg and see whats there as well.

Tell us what lspci writes.
I think that it wouldn't be supported - one chip and bt878 doesn't have 60fps

i put the card in another machine which has windows xp on it and installed the software it came with JUST to verify the card works ok.
Well it does work and i put two cameras on the card and set them to 30fps and i was getting in the high 20fps each ? so it seems to get what it claims i dont know how but its doing that.

The Kernel don't have what it takes to support that card apperantly. I would try to find out what you can about that card including what chip they are using. That would be a start. Its posible that there are drivers to support the chip in the kernel but without the correct manufacturer info in the kernal to tell what it is, unknown device means it will not work.

I know the web address on the card but is there some other type of manufactures for modules i can try at least to see if it will work?

Without knowing the chip thats on the card I wouldn't know where to start. The hard thing is that there is a heat sink on the chip that would have to be carefully removed to get the info off the chip. Depending on how it's fixed to the chip this could be a diffecult task and then you would have to place the heat sink back before using the card. Unless you know what you are doing I do not suggest trying that.

I have the same board and want to use it with zone minder too.

No it hasn't gone much farther. I would need to get a card to work with and would have to have the time to work it out. The best way to go about it would be to donate a card to the guy that maintains the video drivers for the kernel. You can find his info in the kernel readme for the bttv drivers.
