hard time finding capture card

when I start zm, it never finds the capture card right aways. I have to repeatedly type xawtv -hwscan. the first few tries, xawtv also does not see the device. it will finally see it after a few tries. after that zm.php shows the devices in orange.

anyone knows why zm itself does not find and grab onto the capture card? does this mean I should add xawtv -hwscan in a loop to make sure zm grabs the capture card?

ZM just uses the facilities provided by the os. It's not responsible for setting up your hardware in the first place. Most systems don't require anything special to load the devices and drivers. If you need additional commands to be run when ZM starts you could hack zmpkg.pl and add them in there.
