CCTV Webcam £10 delivered!

Post by Knotty John »

I don't know if this stuff is supported in Zoneminder, but am sure it will be.

avoid the tiny wireless cameras, they suck so bad, dogcam.biz seem to do good wireless cameras though...

The night vision CCTV webcams look pretty impressive and cheap! you can get USB cables delivered pretty damn cheap too - 3m A to A £2!

I also have a Sky-104 4 Channel PCI card for sale too if anyone is interested.... I think the model is Sky-104, the chip on it says Conexant Fusion 878A, am not totally sure, email me if you want some more info.

USB webcams are probably best avoided unless you know for sure what chipset/driver they can use under Linux. I have several cheap ones I bought on spec and none of them do jack under Linux!

the camera came today, I don't have a Zoneminder box to test it on, but I can't get it to work with OS X, can anyone suggest anything?

I would start by checking /var/log/messages (or equivalent) when inserting the device to see if it's being recognised as anything or is just unknown.

Ok People! I managed to find a driver for OS X! YEAH!, and in my search for a Driver for Mac, I read something about a Linux driver, the Video controller for this is SNC9102 and under some of the settings it says HV7131R WebCam if that means anything. I hope this helps!

I have a webcam here that physically appears to be the same camera. It works under linux with the spca5xx module. I have this module compiled for the latest ZMliveCD. If you would like to test it you can get it here:

If you are using another distro :( look here:
