zms (in watch) breaks when switching from a scale factor

I got my zmc problems fixed, though I'm still not entirely certain how.
I now am officially in Last Bug mode; suggestions appreciated:
I can pop up a Watch window on the monitor (in monitor mode) that's watching my Panasonic BL-C10 camera. It streams (to both FireFox 1.0.4 and Netscape 8) and everything.
But if I change to still mode, and then change back, I get a broken image icon. If I change to a different scaling (2x size, 1/2x, etc), then change back, I get a broken image. In general, I can switch *to* any given scaling *once*; if I switch to it a second time, I get the broken image icon.
Time seems to heal this, though I'm not sure why: I watch the zms processes in ...
{ flash }
Nevermind.
ZM_RAND_STREAM fixed the problem -- the browsers were apparently caching the streamed MJPEG.
