Using an MV1000

Guys,

I am having trouble configuring Zoneminder to view images from an MV1000.

I have a USB camera connected to the ZM Server which appears to be working fine.

I have configured:
ZM_OPT_USE_AUTH to yes
ZM_AUTH_METHOD to yes
ZM_NETCAM_REGEXPS to yes
ZM_HTTP_VERSION to 1.1
ZM_OPT_REMOTE_CAMERAS to yes
ZM_WEB_REFRESH_METHOD to Javascript
ZM_VIDEO_STREAM_METHOD to JPEG
ZM_VIDEO_LIVE_FORMAT to asf
ZM_OPT_MPEG to No

The monitor is set to:
Function = MoDetect
Run Mode = Continuous
Source Type = Remote
Remote Host Name = 192.168.xxx.xxx
Remote Host Port = 80
Remote Host Path = /user/pstill4.jpg
Remote Image Colours = 8 Bit Greyscale
Max Frames Per Second = 2.0

I have also tried from other remote devices, outside of the LAN, with no success but I don't have full access to these so may have wrong settings.

I can view the internal 'remote' (192.168.xxx.xxx/user/pstill4.jpg ) camera images using IE6.

Any help appreciated as I have a limited time and need to find a working solution...

TIA

Nigel

PS Should mention I used the CTU ISO to install...

Is the image you are getting back from the MV1000 really greyscale? I suspect not, even if it looks black and white, it's probably encoded as a colour jpeg. Also make sure you have the width and height of the image and the monitor set to the same values. Finally, check /var/log/messages for anything that might reveal any useful error messages.

you should be able to enter the details you provided

ip = 192.168.xxx.xxx

path=/user/pstill4.jpg

when you view via webpage is it a activex control or just an image?

and excuse my ignorance but whats an mv1000

I did have the camera set to Greyscale when the MV1000 is capable of Colour (yes it is a B/W camera). I also had the size set to 320x240 when it is in fact 384x288... accoriding to the properties shown with a right click in both IE6 and Firefox. It also appears to be a pure JPG as there is no mention of active X in the properties and I haven't added Active X to Firefox, can't say for the IE6 install.

Details of the MV1000 are here. it was a cheap IP camera interface. Not the fastest but I have used with webpages and a trial version of Active Webcam.

Thanks for the quick rersponse

There are a couple things in there. The shmget one will usually go away if you restart after changing things. But I think that might have gone away already judging by the logs. The other issue is that you seem to be getting timeouts on the image retrieval. Try increasing Options->Network->ZM_HTTP_TIMEOUT to maybe 5000 (5 seconds) for now. You might also want to try using http 1.0 rather than 1.1 in the first instance.

MV1000. it's working...

Well Guys,

It's working...

I made the changes, picture size and colour rather than greyscale and no improvement.

I then restarted zm through the console and it is now working...

I'll be adding a few more cameras to see how I get on.

Thanks again

Nigel, now very happy...

How did you get on with adding extra cameras?

I'm using my MV1000 again temporarily as my IP camera threw a wobbly and refused to work. It's only got 1 camera currently, but past experience suggests it starts to struggle with more than 2 or so...

Hi Jim,

It does work, in a fashion.

I have two MV1000's one with 4 cameras which is very flaky and another with 1 camera which seems more stable...

I have the cameras set to 0.5 fps to try to help but even then it is still a problem. It's a real shame as I like to use dedicated H/W when possible and I only paid £50 each as well....
