hi,

i need some help with my new setup...

LIVECD 121.3 fresh install with one camera AXIS 206W

i limited the frame rate both using the camera setup and the config in zoneminder (misc) to 5 frames per second...

that work great...for 12 hours or so...

i check the log (fresh reboot) and it says...

bla bla capturing at 4.5 frames per second

after ~12 hours (nothing changed)

i get

bla bla capturing at 69 frames per second

that of course leads to problem with the ring buffer and i get errors!

and the capture sessions are bad because the frame order is messed up...

any hints or ideas ?

well on ip cam i never limit zm only the cameras itself, i have noticed if there is a slight discrepancy .-2 fps for example all things go mad then the camera may crash, if just limiting the cam all is good for me, on axis 206, 206m and pana blc10

sorry, i was going to try...

i just check and setting the framrate to 0.00 (zoneminder) worked...

its running for over 12 hours and still working...e.g. only capturing ~4.5 fps and not going beserk...

odd, no idea why that would/could happen if you limit zoneminder and the camera!

strange think ist that i had the same setting on my old install using V121.1 without any problems!

ok,

i tested this more and i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong...

here again the details...

2 setups

Setup 1 (my old system) :
3 AXSIS 206W IP cam's latest firmware (4.21) Maximum FPS set to 5
ZM Live CD install V1.21.1
Buffers set to 40,25,10,0,10,1
Maximum FPS set to 5

setup works great for the last 4 month...

Setup 2 (new system, faster and more HD space)
1 AXSIS 206W IP cam's latest firmware (4.21) Maximum FPS set to 5
ZM Live CD install V1.21.
Buffers set to 40,25,10,0,10,1
Maximum FPS set to 5

the new system we just started works great capturing at around 5 fps like the old system, but afer a couple of hours the new systems start to capture with 50+ fps and then of course shows errors that the ring buffer is to small!

i don't understand because it starts out fine and both systems use the same settings...the only difference is the newer version! and that the new systems is faste etc..

soneone ?

and you have max fps on the monitor set to 0 and just using the cam to restrict speed?
From my testing you can only use zm to limit the capture rate if your grabbing jpeg not mjpeg

hi james,

ok, you mean i shold put the cams to max fps (no limit) and only use zm to restrict the amount to e.g. 5fps max ?

i gonna try tomorrow..not in reach right now...

thanks for the tip...
