Added IP Camera - only black image

Hi,

I have ZM 1.21 running on a LINUX 9.3 system since about four months, with one IP camera with a resolution of 320x240 on RECORD. Worked perfect so far. I am grabbing JPG's @ 1 fps and file them on a HDD.

No I have added a new camera, resolution 176 x 144 for a start and wanted to do the same. Identifed the path to grab the JPG as /cgi-bin/video.jpg, checked that out with the mozilla browser and voilà - got a picture. I entered my data in ZM, similar to the parameters I used with the other camera, and the RECORD and IP ADDRESS in the ZM Console went green.

Would you also guess that was smooth sailing?

Problem is, I get no stream, and only a black still (which flicks every second or...) and I get 0 events. The Load went up, so I guess something is processed, although I am not entirely sure what...

If I put IP_ADDRESS/cgi-bin/video.jpg in my mozilla, I see the JPEG. Which, admittedly, drives me a bit crazy.

Any ideas on how to solve this would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Bring the camera up in mozilla again and right click on the image then select properties.
Make sure that the image size is set the same in ZM.
If that don't help, we'll need to see what errors are being generated in your logs.

Cordel

If you make modifications defining monitors secction you need restart zm daemon.

I have the same problem, and when I reboot pc my ip cam works.

Thanks tux, Thanks Cordel.

The restart of the zm daemon does not change anything. However, the properties of the grabbed image are not 176x144 as expected (and as set in the camera menu...) but 352 x 288. OK, now I have set the camera and ZM to 352x288, and then the IP in the SOURCE section of the ZM console goes RED. I had the same issue with my other camera - if I exceed 320x240, I get no more image. I guess it has something to do with shared memory, buffers etc. , but I have no clue how and where to change this.

Thanks for your help so far!

This is where you should ensure you fully restart ZM, making sure you have no streaming sessions open. If that fails then check /var/log/messages and/or zmdc.log.

Hi all,

still a black impage after fully restarting ZM. I have checked var/log mesages and zmdc.log and found the following:

/var/log/messages:

Dec 19 12:16:40 SuseServer zmc_m5[14341]: INF [Starting Capture]
Dec 19 12:16:40 SuseServer zma_m5[13239]: WAR [Waiting for capture daemon]
(This waiting for capture daemon goes on for another 30 sec)

zmdc.log:

Staring pending process, zmc -m 5
zmc -m 5´ started at 05/12/19 12:06:39,
zmc -m 5´ starting at 05/12/19 12:06:39, pid= 14267
Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x35 0x39
´ zmc -m5 crashed at 05/12/19 12:06:40, exit status 1

It looks like ZM does not identify the pic as JPEG???

Greetings

Thanks a lot! But honestly? I have no clue how to do this...The machine is in a LAN which has a broadband connection via a router, so there is no permanent IP assigned...Any tips?

Type: JPEG-Picture
Adress (URL): http://10.0.0.8/cgi-bin/video.jog
Size: 16795 Bytes
Size: 352 x 288 Pixels
