Working Kodicom 8 chip 8 port board

Post by pcalleros »

Purchased a Kodicom (?) clone with 8 chips and 8 ports. Device I am using is 132. I am using with a P4 1.8/512 Meg machine. It appears to multplex IRQ's and that was giving me many issues when first installed. I purchased board for $100 USD which is good but I would stick with maybe the 4 port 4 chip clones in that they are much easier to configure.

The picture quality from 4 b/w cameras is very good though. Each of the 4 b/w cameras are outdoor Optex combo IR Motion and cameras. I have had issues getting X10 to trigger alarms.

I could not get the card to run with 8800R (102) just 4400R (132) on initial configs.

Once installed (think I tried about 4 new builds)

Now stable will try to change device to 102 to see what happens.

Card has been running with no ill effects using 102 for last few hours. Currently buffers are set to 4. Will change buffers to 32 and post results.

I have it running with the latest LiveCD. (kernal and insmod). Last night tried to increase buffers to 32 and that errored out with multple errors so that ZM would not boot at all. Brought buffers back down to 4 and it is working again. Will be adding a 5th camera this week to it.

Kodicom 8 Chip / 8 Port

Post by pcalleros »

I have tried up to 6 cameras and they all work well.

Currently have only five cameras hooked up to it.

Looking at boot up the card appears to multiplex IRQs.

When configuring Linux video driver I configured what appeared to be one card for every port.

Just tried 30 FPS and works well.[/img]
