duh? usb video device

i have a cctv card configured with 6 camera on it, running well.. however i cannot seem to find documention that makes sense to my head how to find the /dev/video? for the usb quickcam i have added as well...

could someone give me a tip on where to start on the usb device hunt?

i have never used usb cams but i think you can get xawtv to tell you the config of the current view, so if you get your usb cam up in xawtv then ask it whats its using

You don't mention what distro or what cam or what is in your logs (dmesg is helpful here).
You can also try lsusb and that might help you track it down.
