two zm setups; one montage view

Hello,

I'm a bit new to ZoneMinder, so please bear with me... :)

We're looking at ZoneMinder for a customer who wants a to install a couple of surveillance camera's. He has two offices: one in Holland and one in Germany. Now he wants to view both offices in one montage view (I believe that's how you call it), which would be possible if he uses IP camera's in both offices and one ZM setup in Holland for example. To connect the camera's in Germany to ZM, we could use an IPSEC-tunnel, right?

Well, he wants to use analogue camera's, so I need bttv capture cards in both offices and consequently two ZM setups, I guess. He still wants to be able to watch both offices in one montage view. Is this possible or should I strongly advise him to use IP camera's??

TIA,
Alexander van der Leun

Its possible but if you do it the way your suggesting then you will need a fair amount of bandwidth depending on the number of cameras involved. I would suggest recoring at both sites and having 1 other server you use to combine the systems at a low fps

Or just have the two systems but keep one as the master system and use the other (remote) one as just a dumb slave system.

You can use the remote ZM as a remote camera onto the central one, see
http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5549

and use a montage view on the central server. Or just make your own montage HTML page which contains links to the appropriate /cgi-bin/zms URL on the two servers.
