I have done a clean install of ZM on a clean Fedora Core 4 build. I get the following error, and while I'm sure it's something daft I've done wrong, I can't even see where to start looking...

After zmpkg.pl start I get:

Can you post the settings for your monitor?

Also can you try the following

Code: Select all

1) Stop ZM
2) Run zmc in a debugger so do
  a) type 'gdb zmc'
  b) type 'run -d /dev/video0'
  c) <wait for crash>
  d) type 'bt' for backtrace and post results
  e) type 'quit' to exit

Ahh, didn't think about the monitor settings, good point. I'm at work atm, so I'll have a look when I get home later.

Thanks

I'm using a Creative Instant webcam on Fedora Core 3. Is this a bug with Zoneminder?

Ah, now this is interesting, especially this line
#8 0x0804d702 in Polygon (this=0xbfedf210, p_n_coords=2, p_coords=0xedbb550)
at zm_poly.cpp:55
which if gdb is correct (and that's not a given) is saying that you have a two point polygon for a zone. A two point polygon is basically a line, except that both points are at 0,0 so it's a dot! It should not be possible to create a two point polygon so I don't know if something got screwed up in the upgrade.

Can you tell me if this is an upgrade or a new install. And also may dump the contents of the Zones table (mysqldump zm Zones).

I can't imagine what this might be pointing at

By the way, you can easily dump this information with 'zmu -q -v -m <id>' which will also dump your zones as well. If you have bad polygons as Lothar doies, this may well barf but that will be a data point anyway. If you can post your zone settings from the database anyway it would be useful.

HI Phil,
This is the same problem I had reported. and on a fresh install the first cam did only have two points in it's zone. It comes up with two points on any new camera added to the system that does not have [Capture Width] and [Capture Height] set when created.
I over looked that I had created the remote camera with out adding any setting initially. I have now been able to duplicate the problem.

Ah, ok. I will add some validation to the monitor creation form (which I was going to do anyway to stop people including http:// in the host name) to stop this.

'zmu -q -v -m 1' causes the above dump every time.

The Monitors table looks like this:
id: 1
name: tittycam
type: local
function: monitor
enabled: 1

I was just hoping it would be an incentive for people to help me fix my problem :D

I've just noticed that now I've created a new camera, I can run the aforementioned zmu command without failure, but I'm still not getting any luck. The webinterface still says "stopped" no matter how often or how I start zm.

I can't delete cameras either, I tick the box and click delete, and aptove the confirmation, but nothing actually gets deleted.
I get the feeling this is going to turn out to be something daft I've done wrong

Bah, I can't get MySQL to log the queries either, so I can't really see any more info :(

Hmm, I'm going to remove and put in 1.20 and see what happens.

This is the full log from a "zmpkl.pl start" through to a "zmpkl.pl stop". The section in green will repeat it self indefinately until stopped.

The debug log is huge, so that's here: http://pastebin.com/517640

Do you know if you have a weird zone for this monitor?

Can you do a 'select * from Zones where MonitorId = <your mon id>' in mysql and show the results?

Should be a fairly dull zone. I did go in and edited the zone, and moved the corners in a bit, because the debug log seemed to indicate some odd issue with the sizes. What I'm not sure of is why I can't delete monitors. I'm having trouble turning on mysql logging in Fedora, so I can't see what's going on really.

The only odd thing I can see here is that your zone seems to have most of it's counts set to NULL (or zero effectively).

I've done a bit of tidying up in the last few days fixing places where NULL fields in the db are reflected as null pointers (which I don't think they used to be). I would be interested to see whether it makes any difference if you set the NULL fields to 0.

I think that being unable to delete monitors is a problem with zm_actions.php, which I've also revamped a bit in the last few days, so hopefully that will fix that as well.
