I booted Live CD.

Suggestion box: put shortcut on default desktop to //localhost/zm

Any suggestions for partitioning on say a blank 20 gig hard drive? System will be dedicated ZoneMinder machine. I found in the forums a suggestion of at least 2 gig for the "root" partion and that I should have a HOME partition

System:
Dell PIII 450 mhz Intel bx chipset
768 Megabytes RAM
Hawking CM-300 "true" 640x480 USB camera
Toshiba IK-M27a NTSC on BT878 ATI Wonder composite port
Power Managemet is turned off (this should be the default)
Screen saver is turned off (this should also be default)

System was booted last night. It was running good last night after tweeking source camera palette and resolution settings.
I let it run all night. Both cameras are in MONITOR mode.
System still running this morning but there was no image in the HAWKING window. I closed the window and reopened it and the image is back but the system is incredibly slow. Toshiba cam refreshes about every 20 seconds.
I clicked "SOURCE" from the /dev/device/1 window several minutes ago and the window has never opened. CANCEL button does not work.
Any ideas? Is this normal for the LIVE CD?

I closed both monitor windows and reopened

I closed both monitor windows and reopened them and now it is working at a normal speed again.
The monitor windows I am referring to are on the zoneminder host machine not a remote machine.
I am going to try it overnight with no monitor windows open on the host machine but with monitor windows open on a remote machine.

If you follow along in the step by step install guide in firefox you'll find this recommendation for partitioning.
You will need a root (/ ) partition of at least 2 gigabytes, and a swap partition. A separate /var partition is a good idea, though not required. All ZoneMinder video, and the database will be in /var so the bulk of your harddrive can be the /var partition.
I don't usually use a /home partition for a dedicated zm machine.
