Does anyone know if this card will work?

I am sick and tired of compatability issues and conflicts with windows

I have a copy of Turbolinux 6.0 Lite which I have never used and before I start I want to have an idea that I am not wasting my time.

I was pretty good with DOS commands and configuration so I think I can learn Linux.

I already have this card and a pentium pc with ati radeon video card.

Any help is greatly appreciated. No matter what I do in win 2k pro this card and the video card and the usb adapters and the ethernet all end up sharing the same IRQ 11, and the system crashes constantly unless I disable / remove the dvr card.

The key issue controlling whether your DVR card will work is the chipset. Brooktree bt878/848 chipsets are the best supported with some others like some Philips ones also working. I have to confess that I haven't heard of an Xview before (except as a camera) so I would not necessarily rate your chances there.

Regarding interrupt conflicts, have you tried going into your BIOS and seeing if you can reserve the interrupt there? You should also be able to have some control over it in Device Manager in Windows I would have thought.

Just wondering if you tried the EDV-XV425 and what the results were.

I'd also like to know, I just purchased one myself

I know this thread is pretty old. But I was wondering if anyone had any luck with this card in Linux? I picked up this card for $80 at a retail shop not paying attention to the chipset (which is Xview XL2003).

So far am not having any luck finding a supported driver or module in Linux.

Unless the xview chip is a rebranded bt878 or Phillips chip, it most likely will not work under linux
