Im starting to get brave now! and am wndering if i comile a kernel will it perform better than a pre compiled kernel?

If you get the right set of options for your hardware then it will, especially if your hardware is a little unusual.

Thanks Lazy. I was just wondering if there was any major upsides to learning how to do it. The reason im trying is a last ditch attempt at combing lol and to try and get jpeg mmx working, or at least see the benefits. I think i might build a machine just to learn on as my main zm server isnt liking my messing,!
