Any experinces capturing video from network-enabled cameras like the Axis 206M or IQeye?

Can Zoneminder use the MJPEG stream from Axis cameras or is it still necessary to grab individual frames?

Pretty sure it can use a mjpeg stream, so that camera should work from what i can see on here, http://www.zoneminder.com/support.html

Thanks rockerBOO,

I know the 206M "works" but I can't determine the extent of workingness. If Zoneminder has to request individual frames from the camera (one HTTP request per frame) than it would appear to be a sub-optimal solution at high framerates. Searching the forums leads me to believe that others are indeed using it in that way.

i have used a 206m and when you say sub-optimal what are you thinking is 'optimal'

ZM can use either individual jpeg frames or an mpjpeg stream, with the 206M at least, because I have one and have used it.

Thanks guys. One last question: Would you buy the 206M again?

Probably not, not for surveillance type stuff anyway. 1280x1024 or whatever it does is just a bit overkill for most circumstances, especially when the lens and sensor aren't much to write home about anyway.

There probably are applications for it though and I probably won't get rid of it in case I think of any anytime
