I have to change source setting every time after reboot

I was doing some cleaning and tweaking on my Gentoo machine. I updated a bunch of software, then (a bit carelessly) ran etc-update to update all my configuration files. Then I noticed that some of my module config files (modprobe.conf) had changed. So I had to add "bttv options card=77,77" to my /etc/modules.d/i386 file and run "modules-update". When I rebooted, all the /dev/video1 monitors work fine, but the /dev/video0 monitor doesn't work (the line is red). I'm able to fix it by simply changing the source to "/dev/video3" (which doesn't exist) and then changing it right back to "/dev/video0". I have to do this every time I reboot and then everything works fine. Any ideas where I might look for a solution to this problem? I've made a lot of positive changes to the ZM server and I'd really rather not restore from a backup... Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brad

Under Gentoo the changes should be made at /etc/modules.d/alias
