Noob Questions about setting up a Kodicom 4400R

I'm new to Linux, but not PC's.
I've built a ZM box from the ISO cd, and have installed a Kodicom 4400R card. This is deteded by the OS and by ZM
On the GUI desktop I have four icons labelled TVTime BT878 Video (*** Unknown Gender.
Within ZM I've added the four video devices - but I cant see any images on any of the 4 ports. In ZM if I select montage then I get two black screens and two blue screens - as I only have two cameras connected this looks like something has been detected - but is not configured correctly.
Where do I start the troubleshooting?

I used the ZMLiveCD_1.21.3 and have kernel version 2.6.7-2.tmb.6mdk
It seems that I need a newer kernel?? If so can I upgrade to this easily?
I'm doing a search through all the 4400R posts now so hopefully I'll find corners post.
Thanks

I've found this info for Zmdv_2006 Mandriva ZoneMinder installer CD - is this what I need?
http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewto ... f5fedee00c
I'm downloading the Bit Torrent now.
Does this mean I need to completely reinstall?

You will find links for most everything in the downloads section or in the LiveCD topic Ross posts what you need as annoucments.
You don't mention which iso you have loaded. There are several. All the ones put out by Ross are Mandrake/Mandriva based. The one I have out is based on FC3.
There will be a FC5 Based distro as well fairly soon.
Cheers,
Corey

OK I've downloaded the ZoneMinder FC3 Distro v1.21.3 BT CD and rebuilt the box on FC3
The kernel is now verion 2.6.12-1
I've run the command MODPROBE bttv gbuffers=16 card=133,132,133,133 and added the monitors back into ZM
However I'm almost back to where i started as I now have a montage of four black monitors.
I'm not convinced that I have a new enough Kernel as this link
http://linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index.php/Kodicom_4400R
suggests that I need 2.6.12-6 and 2.6.13 is the baseline.
Am I still missing something? I know my 4400R card works as I've tested it in the same PC with a Windows XP HDD.
Any help would be much apprecited.
thanks

Any ideas when either CD will be released with a newer kernel?
Has anyone actually got the 4400R card to work within ZM?

Go to a console window and type:
yum install kernel
On CTU-zm Linux this will get you the newer kernel.

I've run that and it did download and install some stuff, but I'm still on Kernel 2.6.12-1.1381_FC3
If I rerun that command i get a "Nothing to do" message.
Have I missed something or done something wrong?
thanks

You might have to enable the Fedora repo
yum --enablerepo updates-released install kernel
I forgot that I had disabled by default the Fedora repos to aviod people running into problems.

Corey

Would anyone who has this card running well like to add an entry for it to the hardware section of the Wiki as it seems to be fairly common now. Just basic stuff like what goes into modprobe.conf and maybe a link to specs or something.
