problem under suse 10.1

hi i followed the directions for installation under suse 10 of this forum....(i can't find ncftp package for my distro) however i've installed it..when i poin firefox to localhost/zm.php i get a blank page (apache is activated and also mysql and also zm)

can anyone help me??

hi thanks to answering me...i solved the problem reinstalling...
do you know if sony snc-rz30p network camera is supported?
i tried it and it does not work..

can you suggest me high level network cameras for a natural reserve monitoring?
and if you can, tell me also middle-level network camera?

When you installed zm under Suse 10.1 did you have any prblems with the YAST2 package installations?

I don't seem to be able to locate:-

apache2-mod_php4
php4-session
mod_php4-core

Any aideas?

Mark,

when your in yast have you tried a search for them? I normally Filter and search for the packages i want.

Just type "apache" & "php4" and they should find them

Have a look here for them if you still cant find them...

I searched for them yes, they aren't there. I added a number of additon repository sources (incl. opensuse.org) but still no luck.

rpmfind.net locates a 10.0 version of the 3 missing in 10.1 packages:-

apache2-mod_php4
php4-session
mod_php4-core.

Will these work?

I'm going to do a backup prior to trying them out.

What SUSE are you using? SuSE 10.1 or openSUSE 10.1?

What installation type you using i.e CD install or DVD install?

If you type yast then search on the installation CD's and type php4 then it should bring a list of php4 packages which will show you php4-session

If you do try those rpm's found on rpmfind then make sure you download the correct version i.e i386, i586 so on to check on your computer what type just to rpm -qi mysql and that will give you information on what type it is.

Open Suse 10.1

Internet Boot.iso Repository Network Install.

Yes, I did this and for 10.0 on my 2 previous attempts it does, but this time I installed 10.1 and despite all the others being present php4-session, mod_php4-core and apache2-mod_php4 were missing from the list of available packages. I've downloaded the 10.0 i586 versions and done a backup ready to give it a try

I also downloaded the full php4 source from php.net, php-4.4.2.tar.gz and have (after a adding a couple of necessary packages) sucesfully compiled it for Suse 10.1. Unfortunately I can't locate any of the necessary files in the folder. It was worth a try though, and a good learning experience

Mind you had they been there I still wouldn't ave known how to install them, or have I inadvertantly just installed the entire php4 module/package/command set?

Despite the frustration at wanting to get up and running this isn't an unpleasant learning experience, thank you so much for making my early learning curve so straight forward. I'll make sure I do the same for others where I can answer from my experiences.

I've never used the internet boot iso, always downloaded full distro...

If you download the full 5 CD's I can tell you all files are there and present

OK.. the saga continues....

I downloaded the Full 10.1 DVD (includes the 5 CD's plus the 6th Addon CD according to the Opensus website.

Still no php4-Session etc.

After much googling I found this link http://disruptive.org.uk/20060512.packages/index.html which compares the 2 different distributions...

Included on SUSE Linux 10.0 DVD but not SUSE Linux 10.1 DVD:
....loads of files including..
apache2-mod_php4
php4-session
mod_php4-core

Are you sure they are on the 10.1 CDs? I'll download them as well if they are.

Now I'm wondering whether it's time to do re-install #4 back to 10.0? There must be some way to introduce the necessary RPMs, I just haven't worked it out yet.

I haver downloaded the 10.0 ones from RPMfind, but I'm having trouble installing them with YAST2, I tried to extract them manually with rpmextract but it tells me they are delta RPMs and need to be made into full RPMs first.

If I do manually extract them...Is it simply a case of moving the extracted files to the corrct locations on my system?

when i use rpm i either use rpm -i <rpm name> or rmp _Uvh <rpm name> from the command prompt. Can you just do that?

I tried those before James, I get "error: apache2-mod_php4-4.4.0-6_6.8.i586.delta.rpm is a deltarpm, create a real rpm from it first!" message.

Ok..... So any idea what my next question is?

I have never heard of used a delta rpm, cant you download a normal rpm from say apache for suse and install that?
