I have been reading this forum about implementing IP cameras under Zoneminder and I wondered if there are general features hardware or software to look for when selecting a camera?
I have also been looking for higher resolution (1280 x 960) firewire cameras. Does such a thing exist?

I don't know if Hi-Res FW cams exist but FW in general is pretty patchy under Linux and I would recommend avoidance at this stage.
The consensus for IP cams is that generally Axis are the best quality and most reliable (barring some firmwarre issues on the latest 207s). They aren't the cheapest though. The Wiki should have a list of IP cams that have been tested with ZM. The Wiki is new however and so there are others that have not been added yet.
